Where were you born and raised? I was born in Middleboro Massachusetts and raised in the small town of Lakeville Massachusetts I have called Colorado my home since 1984.
Was music always your passion? I started pretty young on brass instruments and played woodwinds through college and in the United States Air Force. I picked up the guitar early in life somewhere along the way.
Who are your musical influences? Wow that’s a tough question, in reality the answer is everyone that I have ever enjoyed listening to.
How do you write a song? Music or Lyrics first? Melodies generally come first and that happens almost always while I’m taking a shower. I have also gotten some ideas from looping rhythms. Occasionally I’ll come up with a lyric first and apply them to a chord progression.
Do you have any Hobbies? No not really, I love to walk but that’s not really a hobby that’s more like … therapy.
What are your future plans musically? I just want to be involved. Whether it’s writing, producing, arranging, as a session musician, or mixing I love to be in or around the creative element.
When looking for recording session musicians, what do you look for? For the “Crooked Lane” project I asked Kc Dunn (producer) to find me musicians that I didn’t know and never worked with before, they would have to have strong chart reading skills and they had to be incredibly out going in the creativity department. And of course they had to be nice people.
What Style or Genre would you consider your music? Cross between Gordon Lightfoot and Little Feat, (laughs) I have no idea the listener can make that decision.
What’s your favorite Album of all time? It changes from day to day. Today it would have to be “London Calling” by The Clash Yesterday it was the late great Maynard Ferguson’s “The Conquistador”
Would you like to produce music? That is my favorite aspect of the whole recording process because it encompasses so many skills.
What are you most proud of in your life? That I have never seen an episode of “The Sopranos” pretty impressive huh?
Is there a style of music you would like to explore? Sure what do you have in mind? Actually “Crooked Lane” has a few different styles, which was done purposely. I’m very opened minded when it comes to music styles.
